The monostable and bistable locking solenoid offer a quick and reliable solution for a wide variety of locking applications, such as security or controlled environments where fast and repetitive locking demand is required. They are compact, constructed of a lightweight plastic, designed for quick plug and play integration, capable of achieving static holding forces up to 1600N.
Applications include machine access, turnstiles, security of retail high-value items, medical and disinfection equipment, chemical control, security at festivals, theme parks or events, steamers, ovens, commercial fridges, washing machines, dishwashers or dryers; the list is exhaustive!
Simple electrical control. The monostable SL (Self Locking) series locking solenoid, for example, on closing a door will lock automatically without power, the internal microswitch (red and blue wires) detects a closed door and outputs a signal, ‘closed status’.
The bistable AL (Active Locking) solenoid, lock and unlock status is performed by reversing the coil polarity. The bistable solenoid in an unlocked state, a door, for example, can be opened and closed easily without automatic locking. A door closed microswitch (blue and red wires) detects the door is shut and outputs a signal, ‘closed status’.
By reversing the polarity of the solenoid coil (red and black wires), the device is ready for locking. The door will lock on its next consecutive close. A second microswitch (yellow and green wires) detects that the door is locked and outputs a signal ‘locked status’. When both microswitches output a signal, the door is fully secure. The lock mechanism can be released by momentarily energising the internal solenoid for 100ms (respective polarity, black and red wires).
Both the AL and SL locking solenoids include an emergency lever sited on the underside of the device, pull this lever forward to unlock the mechanism manually. Mount the locking solenoid to a flat surface using the 6mm diameter through body holes or use the M5 female front face threads.
Both locking solenoids are designed to accept a 6mm diameter bar. Standard operating voltage is 24V DC, other voltages or low powered battery versions are also available subject to minimum order quantities. Protection class IP44 with operating temperatures up to 80°C. The fast switching mechanism offers a superior service life with over 100,000 switching cycles.
